When you are picking a criminal defense lawyer, it is important to try and find someone who is honest. Many lawyers will tell you things that simply are not true. I am frequently confronted by panicked clients who are told they are going to go to prison or they are going to have a felony, when in reality these cases are not so severe and on the flip side I often encounter people who have been told by some lawyer who is trying to get the case for a certain amount of money they can make the case go away or it can be reduced, when I know from looking at the evidence it is going to be a very difficult case to resolve.
